I'm definitely doing it. It's pretty funny they are updating the logo too. I wonder what that involves.

Cardboard stencil and a white spray can?

It is intriguing ... effectively selling the new camera to its previous owners.

This is really great news.

It's funny though, I had lukewarm reactions for the new FF release... but the opportunity to squeeze extra hardware performance out of my existing K-1 has me interested in doing this.

I guess that's brilliant marketing for ya. And renewed affinity for Ricoh/Pentax for (again) offering something highly different than the traditional competitors.

Wonder if it is worth doing it to the silver edition?

I believe that mainboard is identical from the beginning, they just started to assemble DNR coprocessor called accelerator unit, which simply was not available on time when K1 was introduced. That would explain everything. I'd like to see both boards... I bet they are same, only different component assembly variant is used + new firmware to run it.

Only North America it seems, but I've asked a local with the Oz distributor to see if the offer will be available here.

Yep. Doing its own thing at its own rhythm, not trying to emulate the big Canikon.boys.

It’s smart and will eliminate buyers remorse (if there ever could be). Besides when you send it in you will automatically go in a marketing list for all the BOSS lenses in the pipeline they have not told anyone about

This upgrade option is probably one of the more interesting things about this K-1 II release. Does anyone know if other camera makers have done a hardware upgrade like this before?

I wonder if they will transfer the camera specific info such as serial number, shutter count, manufacture date, etc. to the new main board?

If C R Kennedy offers this in Australia I'll be all over it.

Fantastic (maybe unique?) service to existing owners!
