Australian K-1 Owners

Hi, I received this email from CRK this morning:

"Hi David,

The K-1 upgrade service will be available in Australia. Details & pricing will be announced at a later date.

Kind regards,

Richard Yeadon
Internal Sales Executive
Consumer & Professional Imaging Division"

I think it's a no brainer providing the cost isn't prohibitive.

Regards,
David

Thanks for posting that David, I asked the question of two people I've met who work at CRK and heard nothing back.

Excellent! My black K-1 will be one of the first in line, rapidly followed by its silver sister if all goes well

I'm sure updating will provide better results for some, lets see the cost which includes the GSTaaaaaax....my guess is A$ 800ish...it'll have to be a stunning upgrade to get my $$$$...i'm in the wait and see boat.

I'm guessing $995.

It would a bit pricey if it is around that. Which it more than likely will be.

I doubt that I'll do it. I just can't see that there is much of an improvement over the K1 for the cost of the upgrade. I think I'll stick with the K1 as is, until I hear/see the results from those who go ahead with the upgrade.

I am not convinced ... yet. A cost/benefit analysis will be required. I'm not particularly excited by hand-held pixel shift; a little more so about cleaner high-iso. We shall see.

Look forward to hearing about the results.

Is it worth doing...

I think I will keep my K-1 as a K-1, was so long waiting for a FF Pentax, and it has been all I ever waited for and more, so , I thunk I will keep it as that, First of it's kind.

But, tempted by the Mk II, hopefully, Australia will get the free battery grip offer.

Actually, at the moment I think I'd be tempted more by a K3iii than a K1ii. Still no sign of a K3ii replacement though, unfortunately.
