Did you read the data on the page the OP linked? It specifically states KAF3 for the ultrawide crop lens. You're safe.

I read more carefully and saw that.

It's a tad late here, and I got some anoying trouble tonight, so I'm very tired.
But happy to know it

Now if they follow this up with a 'mkII' of the 16-50 and 50-135 they will have a really nice trio for APS-C.
I'm with you on that.

There goes our 15-30mm equivalent lens. I wonder how much it would weigh?

KAF3 makes me think that this has been in development for a while.

I kind of think that the 16-50 will be wholesale replaced, nothing but the focal lengths covered and f2.8 max constant aperture remains. But that's another subject for another thread, never mind that this is just a guess on my part.

My bet is the 11-18 comes out in the US for 1,100 or so... Maybe 1,250 max...Either way I am in!

I see a DFA*50 in my NEAR future....

Has anyone seen the filter size confirmed yet? The press release only mentioned it for the DA*11-18

Bummer. Another step-up ring to purchase. Maybe the DA*55 will have to do after all.

Seriously heavy and optically great.

At a guess, your DA15 won't come close in either department, Wed.

It's a star rated lens, it has an 82mm filter size.

I tried the DFA 50 and the new K1II at WWPI in Las Vegas today. The 50 is a beast of a lens. It is big. It has no CA that I could see. The bokeh is buttery and the lens is SHARP. I have to find a way to get one. I was given an $1,100 and $775 figure for the cost. Then I was told that the price is not set yet. The quality I saw is worth every penny of both quoted prices. Stiff but this is a quality of image I have not seen from any Pentax lens before.

The K1II, that is another story. It is a high ISO beast. I did not get to try the pixel shift but the explanation was the same thing we are reading online. One of the reps showed me a hand held pixel shift high ISO macro shot he had done of a flower and it looked sharp and noiseless.

11-18 will be a gem! It is on my buy list ASAP as it will hit the market. Can't wait!

Therefore, I think that KAF3 is a great step, securing the wider range of clients that can obtain this glass. We are still waiting for a test shots though....

Great to see confirmed that the 11-18 will take filters. Although it's a shame the filter thread is one size larger than my current filters, that are all 77mm to fit the 16-50/2.8 (and most of my Samyangs from the 16/2 up). I do have a adapter to fit them on my 150-450, which also has a filter thread of 82mm. Since that's a FF lens and I use it on APS-C, using 77mm filters is not a problem on that lens, but I expect to experience some vignetting on the 11-18 with 77mm filters... But then again I crop square most of the time...

Where can I preorder? Expect a Sigma 8-16 in the marketplace once I get the 11-18...

Wow, that 11-18 sure triggers my LBA.

'This lens was developed as a "new-generation star lens", which drastically reviewed internal standards in order to respond to future camera performance improvements”’- are they hinting at very high resolution in the next high end APS-C camera?

Anyway, I guess the price will be stiff, so I might pass and try to save for a K-1 instead...
