Originally posted by monochrome IIRC part of the reason the DFA 70-200 was delayed involved faults in the production process at commercial speed resulting in excess units failing production standards tests. IF something similar was described as an ’incident’ on the production line (a machine tolerance failure) then the statement could be construed as spin.
My take would then be Pentax could be applauded for delaying release until they get it right, but they should have said that.
The should be, but they would not be - we're too impatient for our own good.
I'd rather prefer to have a properly working sample later, than a not-so-good-but-still-not-bad-enough-for-warranty-repair sample now.
Anyway, if the lens will indeed be delayed, I'd expect an official announcement.
