You get the feeling that it isn’t a high priority for Ricoh. I doubt I’ll be getting rid of my Pentax-F 1.7x teleconverter any time soon, even if it isn’t ideal. Still, it does play well with several of my non-AF long lenses.

In this period of talking about mitigating climate change and stopping biodiversity destruction by modifying our consumption patterns, Ricoh Imaging are showing the way: enjoy what you have instead of coveting what might be available for purchase later on.

Maybe they’ll offer an upgrade for owners of the DA1.4x converter...

Send in your old one and they’ll make it a DFA converter

And it will get a II sticker...

It could be possible if enough people would like to pay more tor the upgrade than a new DFA TC.

I can't find info about how well this set focuses with such low effective aperture. Can anyone share?

What aperture does the K-1ii require?
The camera body matters more than anything else.

The TCs have not arrived yet since there are no lenses that really benefit from a TC. Only *70-200 would benefit, *200/*300 could require an update before you fit a TC and 150-450 looks quite dark with any TC. Yes, you can want to combine a 77ltd with 2x TC, but don’t wonder if Pentax does not listen to you.
Just my opinion. The good thing here is that Pentax is likely to upgrade some lenses or present new glass with new TC(s).

Well, if it was useful for APS it is at least as useful for FF iMO.

In good light, the K1/K1ii will focus with a 400mm f5.6 and the 1.7x autofocusing converter, which is, what, f10?

But that is why I would expect a DFA 1.4x, not a DFA 2x...

My KP focuses regularly with my “77-420mm PLM” {55-300mm PLM + 1.4X TC}, which is something like f/8-9.5 depending on focal length. I would expect the K-1iii to require less light - and for a “FF” TC to be constructed with the K-1iii and newer lenses in mind.

of course they will, with some compromises that are sometimes needed, my K1 with FA 80-320 / 4.5-5.6 with AFx1.7 at 320 / 5.6 displays as 550 / f8 , the f8 aperture displays in the full range regardless of the fact that on the lens f4.5 to 200 mm, and on 320 mm is f5 .6, indoors at 1055 lumens / 13W LED indirectly light with pre-focusing at 550 (320) mm / f8 K1 at ISO 51200 at a distance from the focus point approx. 3 m focused on static focus without any problems

one of my old posts on Pentax Forum (14-06-20) related to AFx1.7 on K1 and Lens Discussion:

(from hand without tripod):
Pentax K1+Pentax FA80-320/4,5-5,6 (silver) +adapter Pentax F AFx1,7
camera settings are:ISO: 6400, Shutter Speed: 1/320 sec., Aperture: f11
in 35 mm: 550 mm (without circumcision)

I want a teleconverter that turns an APS-C lens into full frame at the same time as it adds magnification.

Most FF 1.4x TC should do that, probably.
