Unfortunately, while it has improved a lot, it still hasn't completely fixed my random connection errors and the, sometimes, incredibly slow loading of the SD card's content -.-
At this point I'm not particularly sure whether it's a phone or app problem, though.

Try and only use it when the card has few pictures on it, or it'll try to enumerate them all!

Image Sync 2.1.2 (Android) and K-1 firmware 1.52:

I've got over 1200 shots on my SD card at the moment and it still produces the thumbnails within a couple of seconds of connecting, whether I scroll to first or last. Notably it is still showing card access for ages after I've got a full screen of thumbnails, so there appears to be some sensible prioritising of the image downloads to fill the visible screen first, then buffer the remaining. Far more usable than previous versions.

Would be nice if they added device screen rotation, as it only displays in portrait format - so landscapes have lots of blank screen above and below... ...maybe with the next iteration?

The overall score on the Google Play Store isn't any good. Hope it works for my K-S2 when I meet it in a month. There's a big lack of a good app for Pentax.

Just noticed the latest version (2.1.3) with the KP now allows multiple shutter release modes, including self timer, bracketing, continuous etc... This is a significant update for me as I really missed the remote infrared timed shutter release (selfies don't you know).

That's great! Hopefully the K-1 will get similar treatment in the next update.
I just tested my K-1 with a 2 second timer using the image sync app (V2.1.3) and it still prompts me to "Set the drive mode to single frame shooting mode".
This is with the most recent version of the K-1 firmware (V1.53).

New version - 2.1.5 - has support for the K-3iii and GPS location improvements (can send location information in the background for the GR iii - I guess it's implicit with the K-3iii).
Plus some Live View grid display and miscellaneous WiFi bugfixes.
