I went out today to take some test shots. I have no experience with pixel shift but I've tried to create a jpg with raw therapee from a hand-held pixel shift photo of the Hochburg taken with the FA 31/1.8: Hochburg - Wikipedia

If you want to experiment you can find the original DNG file (183,5 MB) here:
MEGA

This is a larger version of the JPG file (32,7 MB) but please keep in mind that it's only a first try:

So hand-held pixel shift seems to work. Here is a high iso example (ISO 18.000) converted from DNG with lightroom taken with the DFA 24-70/2.8 at 24mm with f/4. The first one is processed without noise reduction in post, the second one using topaz denoise 6.

These photos have been taken in Freiburg and the Black Forest today. I've used my prime set which I've completed with the FA 43: the three limiteds and the FA 20. This will be my favourite "plenty of time, good weather"-kit and I really like the camera and the lenses.

FA 77/1.8, f/5.6, 1/750s, ISO 100
FA 77/1.8, f/6.7, 1/250s, ISO 100
FA 31/1.8, f/8.0, 1/180s, ISO 100
FA 20/2.8, f/5.6, 1/750s, ISO 100
FA 43/1.9, f/6.7, 1/180s, ISO 100

Now I am stuck, should I get a used Mk1 or Mk2...
Is there any major upgrade on Mk2?

Well, I don‘t see myself using (hand-held) pixel-shift a lot. If I were you I‘d wait for the reviews to see if there is a measurable difference in high iso and autofocus performance. My impression was that there is but I didn‘t use the K-1 long enough to confirm it.

When you ask this question. .......you probably are good to go with a Mk1 for a few years.

I guess so, I am not skillful enough on making photo and use every little function yet.
So newest will probably a waste on my hands

What I like about the K-1 (both versions) is the attention to detail.
For example, I can finally read the current focal length of zoom lenses on the rear display.
I've waited for ages for this feature and now I can put the mm tile wherever works for me.
The light button is excellent but even better is that I can define what it does.
I have only started with the first of five presets and they are all selectable via hardware dial.
I can rename it to "Action" which is way better than something like "User Mode 1".
The camera tries really hard not to get in your way while you are busy taking photos.

so you created the jpg in camera? on the K3II i always used DCU5 to trasnsform the pixelshift shot into a tiff and then work on it on ps or lr, as in my experience those softwares doesn't process pixel shifted shots accordingly.
