Pentax DCU can identify.

PhotoMe??? I am under the impression that this hasn't been updated in almost a decade. I wouldn't expect it to recognize newer lenses.

What software did you use? ExifTool is unable to grab the lens model.

Ogl, I give you a like, for the jump to 1000 ;-) congrats!
But I do agree and also understand it: if the lens delivers it is the beginning of a new series capable to resolve for high resolution sensors and even pixelshift. And on APS-C this would be a mighty, but heavy, portrait lens.

I was just making the point that PhotoME would have recognised the FA 50mm when I was answering Joshua A's assumption that the pictures were taken with the FA instead of the D FA★. A kind of negative proof if you want.

Now, thanks to D1N0 and DCU 5.8.1. we have the positive proof that the lens used to take these two pictures is a HD Pentax-D FA★ 50mm f/1.4 SDM AW.

Not quite sure who you mean by "the people" There is a subset of Pentax owners who aren't satisfied with the older offerings such as the FA50/1.4, and understandably so... It's a great little lens, but it's showing its age. For me, that's not a problem, but I completely understand why K-1 owners in particular want an up-to-date, high-end 50mm f/1.4 lens with outstanding image quality that makes the most of the K-1's sensor. So, yes - I guess those people will be very happy

It was only 1 pic, and therefore - my LR had not recognized the exif from it, but also - I have not noticed any purple fringing.
I downloaded the shot of the helmet and zoomed in to 400% in DXO. I can see some PF on the chrome bits I think. I also see green fringe around the white floral shot on the upper right of the central subject. I'm not sure if these are indicative of anything as I have no reference point to compare to in similar prime 50's at f1.4 of other brands. In both cases the amount looks very small. It is certainly better than my DA* 200 in this respect.

Is the price already announced? I looked around a bit but no information. High IQ f/1.4 AW lens beating Sigma Art (asahiman comment) means something like 1500$ at least. It is comparable to very high IQ Zeiss Loxia 21mm for example.

€/$1,500 +/- €/$300.
I think Mistral might be right.

In fairness, I don't know of a fast lens that doesn't exhibit at least some minor CA at high contrast edges wide open...
