He always makes me flinch the way he bangs cameras around but I still chuckle.

The new A7/9 series have the same bodies... I think it is great to change the inside guts of the camera without changing the outside, because, as user, you get more features without having to adapt to a new user interface.

Exactly.

If you are a professional, you could easily use a K1 and K1 II to shoot a wedding. Using a K3 as back up would be a little harder because button placement is different enough that if you want to view images you just shot you'll be hitting the live view button on the K-1 quite a bit. No particular reason to change body style unless there is something that is just poorly placed.

Personally I always liked the K20D as ergonomics, it would be nice if it could be replicated with an updated component, leaving the outer shell unchanged, as DSLRs say, tailor-made but technologically more advanced.
I was reading Ivon Burke's book right now, where he says "PENTAX could have been ahead of most current manufacturers, by introducing a Full Frame DSLR in 2000. Oh well, that was then and this is now. Nobody cares.".
