I absolutely love my Laowa 12mm. For city trips I can Not Imagine something better. It fully replaces a 19mm Shift lens.

what is the main idea of such purchase when we have a lot of other macro lenses from different manufactures and, especially,. DFA100 macro WR?

2x magnification. There's also the APO claim.

The DFA100/2.8+Raynox DCR250 is a nice way to hit 2x magnification and still maintain auto-aperture and nice image quality. But if the quality of the Laowa is high and the price isn't astronomical, I can see the attraction.

I also can't express how happy I am that a 3rd party manufacturer is releasing 'different' lenses and supporting the k-mount (albeit without AF, etc).

Infinity to 2× magnification without extra tubes or lenses, f/2.8, aperture lever (hopefully with "A" contacts), hopefully full frame image circle (unlike the 60mm), APO - plenty of appeal. AF isn't a big deal with macro lenses.

The product line of this company is worth watching. You should be happy that 3rd parties are supporting the K-mount.

Gotta love the Not-For-Me-So-Not-For-Anyone mindset.

Well, right number, though Notanumber

On the "cons" side, i don't see why the number of blades differ according to mounts types....

The question is if the Canon and Sony mounts have electronic apertures. They may be full manual only. If these are electronically controlled why use the Nikon F and Pentax K (or KA) rather then the electronically controlled Nikon E and Pentax KAF4? So I would guess it is just a design/engineering compromise: more blades with no auto aperture at (full manual stop-down) all or fewer blades with auto aperture. Laowa is a very young company having just started up in the past 3-5 years. The 60mm is a solidly build piece of engineering but has a somewhat rough finish to it (like Soviet era lenses). They've come quite a ways with still a lot more to go. So I guess in this case it comes down to which is more important to you - auto aperture or more blades?

I doubt it will be successful for K-mount

Why do you say that?

They keep releasing lenses for the K-Mount.

Why would they bother after this many lenses if they were’t selling enough?

I like the fact that Laowa comes from a country that has not been base for camera industry like Japan & Germany. There is chance that outsiders may break the rule and introduce innovative products, may also bring down the price. I like macro photography, so looking at both 15mm Macro and 100mm macro.

Just because you don't want one, doesn't automatically mean the product won't be successful.

I don't use words - "want" or "don't want", "like" or "don't like" - I doubt and I'm almost sure that this lens will be sold by limited copies.

MF, focal length and purpose of such lens make this lens rather special. It's unreal to say about any success. For any mount.
And it's semi-handicraft product.
