I've been able to take the lens out on a couple of outings, and will be publishing a first impressions review ASAP. I was hoping to have it done by now, but the lens got to me a little later than anticipated...

As a macro shooter and a Pentaxian, for me this is the most exciting news since... well, probably since the launch of the K-3! Infinity to 2:1 magnification at 100mm with auto-aperture. Boom. Thank you Laowa!

True, and smart adapters further broaden the appeal of that version. Still, better late than never! Having auto-aperture significantly improves the macro shooter's experience. And this will be doubly true with the improved viewfinder in the K-New...
BTW, I'm not sure, but if I understand correctly, I believe they are also releasing today a second EF version with clickless manual aperture, for video-centric work.

Imagine, once the K-mount to Sony E-mount adapter with autofocus (which was announced recently), it would actually be possible to use auto exposure on E-mount... providing you purchase the K-mount version

There is no need to purchase the K-mount version to use auto exposure on an E-mount camera. The Canon EF mount version available since June 2019, together with any Canon EF - Sony E adapter ensuring electronic coupling between lens and camera (Altson, Andoer, Camdiox, Camera Plus, Commlite, DLC, Fotga, Fotodiox, Hausbell, JinTu, K&F Concept, King, Kipon, Kooka, Koolertron, Laina, Meike, Metabones, Opteka, Pictools, Pixco, RJ, Selens, Sigma, Signstek, Stok, Techart, Viltrox, Walimex, Yongnuo, Zhuoming and more), will do the job.
