Why, where's the K-1 firmware update that gives us hand held pixel shift?.....

or

Why can't I turn off the accelerator chip?

I'd like to think this will cover all bases and we won't have anymore (of that whining sutff).

Do "stability" improvements enhance SR?

I just completed my firmware update. It looks like the Japan site is the only one that contains the update file so far.

It would brick the camera - different hardware - you could check if the firmware is recognized by the camera but if it is, don't proceed further.

No issues after upgrading. Did not notice any performance related changes but then again, I have not been digging deep after the upgrade.

I doubt that it would brick the K1 because the file name is different. The K1 firmware would be looking for a different file name to start the upgrade.

K1 firmware file is named fwdc228b.bin.
K1-II firmware file is named fwdc240b.bin.

The name of the firmware file never changes for a specific model. Otherwise you could load K5 firmware into a K1 etc.

so you could simply rename the file and brick it anyway?

I doubt a simple file name change would suffice...I'd guess there is at least some id info in the file, but if done at least half-a**ed or better they would at least have a complete file hash checksum in there, so if even a single byte of the file or name is changed, it won't load. (But this is just assumptions from a software dev, but then again they make cameras and not software primarliy so I may very well be wrong and it's very lazy coding...).

Then again I'm a bit surprised that people think even if it could be loaded, that I would actually work when there's different hardware in there as well..
