Just because one employee gets an editorial published in a magazine, doesn't mean it's endorsed by the magazine and its publisher. Westlake can be terminated for liable if he's puts petrol on the coals.

A company closing shop does NOT release new cameras and lenses. They do not put full page back cover ads on Outdoor Photographer. Saying Ricoh's reluctance to enter the mirrorless market will lead to their demise is like saying a small car company like Mazda's reluctance to enter the hybrid/electric market will lead to their demise. Eastman Kodak had no reluctance to research and develop digital photography. Did that predict their future success?

Many brands are owned by parent companies. Nikon, Subaru, Jeep, etc. Although I subjectively like the Pentax moniker, who cares if it's actually owned by Ricoh or Amazon?

When I got the official government text alert that "
BALLISTIC MISSILE THREAT INBOUND TO HAWAII. SEEK IMMEDIATE SHELTER. THIS IS NOT A DRILL." it still didn't mean it was real. And before Ricoh kills the Pentax brand, they would sell it to the next highest bidder. Unless that bidder is Canon, Sony, or Nikon, the name and system will continue with the expected ups and downs.
