Originally posted by BigMackCam Not the best example, Rob, as the K-mount FA43 is more-or-less a pancake design. With a chunk stuck onto the back end to compensate for the Leica M flange focal distance, you still had a decently compact lens. Try the same thing with the D FA15-30 for L-mount and see how many folks rush to buy
that No, I know it isn’t, but the FA43 is a 35FF lens, and the L-mount covers APS-C as well. As we know, Pentax makes very nice small APS-C lenses (such as the DA40), so there would be a market there. While that’s fine for Leica TL bodies, the problem is that more numerous (I assume) Panasonic cameras involved are 35FF bodies.
The D FA 15-30, while being well-liked by most users, is something of a monster, so I don’t think that’s a good example, either.
However, be assured that I’m not advocating for an L-mount Pentax. There are more important things for Ricoh to do with the existing K-mount lineups.
