Any other skint photographers out there maybe looking for a cheap DA* 55mm f1.4 once this new beast arrives? I'm expecting millions of them will be washed up with the tide on Ebay.

Of course these things never happen 😁

My internal optimist tells me this means Ricoh are controlling information closely, suggesting release might be imminent....

Actually, as you know, at least three definitions of "summer" are used in the US:

(1) the one you used

(2) weather people say "summer" is June - Aug, the three warmest months

(3) culturally, "summer" begins Memorial Day weekend {past} and ends Labor Day weekend {yet to come} - this definition is (2) with a week or so added at each end

I'm guessing we can't expect a Japanese company to use anything based on U.S. practices, but I've never seen them say anything with that kind of precision, so we're probably "over-thinking" this again.

I think you will find some of the originals from the review within this larger K-1 II set.

Either this was a 'controlled leak', or this goes back to the characteristic of Pentax that people find so frustrating ""US Government should out-source secrecy to Pentax, because they do it so much better".

I can't say that it's sharp....And I didn't found photos rather sharp at 1.4-2...
It seems some photos are back focused

I have never understood why anyone would consider the solstice to be the beginning of summer. I would have thought it was, by definition, the *height* of summer.

But I digress. I look forward to the release of the DFA*50, whenever it may be.

I don't need it, because I have so many 50 lenses and DA 55 works really well on FF cameras. F50/1.4 is not bad at all.
But I want it...
I only have 2 50, both Marco (FA and F)
Sometimes I do feel I want something with larger aperture and silent AF, DFA24-70 serve me well though.

Around here, the biggest factor in overnight temperatures is the gourd temperature, and the ground temperature just isn't all that warm yet. There's the hight of the sun, and the average daily temperature. The solstice is when the ground is finally getting warm enough to give back heat overnight, and that effect lasts long after the sun starts getting lower in the sky.

But I digress, if I get a big tax return, I'll consider it.

Yes, pretty milky rendering. Has some kind of glow wide open. Far cry from Sigma 50mm ART or Milvus 50/1.4.
