It is a dream angle for mountain landscapes. I hope it will be in good price soon.

I only want wide angle in limited compact size with better light than F3.

@pxt
By better than F3, I guess you mean F2.8.. If you check the title of the thread it reads DA* 11-18mm f.2.8 so the F2.8 is a given, but it is also labelled DA*; this indicates the lens will also be AW (all weather), have in-lens focus motor and also aimed at best in class performance. No where is 'limited compact size' implied by that designation. You can't physically make a wide angle, wide aperture, high quality (zoom) lens in a small body. If you want compact, there is already the DA15 Ltd, but in being a compact prime lens it only shares the K-mount and Pentax name in common with the new lens.

PS At least your multiple posts are getting us closer to making the August total... ;-)

Oh! I sow this multiple post after fact. It was Internet issue. I lost connection, press F5 and it's going to multiple...

@phoebus, I have experience that darker than F2.8 lens is get too long time exposition for me. I am not only taking photos on daylight and outside, but outside and between trees. Some of them need better F to handshot. For compact size DA15 is great, but afraid that F4 will be simply too dark. I'm stack here. Optimal choice for now is 31 ltd. I'm still looking for compromise and I can't decide. I have K3 II and after decade I hope that I can get K1, because afraid that I will be not very luck to get K1 from raffle. At the summary I buy now lens compatible with FF and APS-C.

You could look at the K-70 or KP as an alternative to the K-1. The newer APS-C cameras are much better in low light and may make F2.8-F4 more palatable to you. I'd expect the same out of the K3 followup

In comparistion to K200D is huge difference. Above ISO 3200 grain start too much noisy for my taste. ISO 51200 is only for advertise.

I suppose this makes sense given the K-1 is marketed as a rugged landscape camera, but I wonder what impact it would have on battery life. Presumably it wouldn't need to heat the elements by much though.

Video is limited to 30 minutes, so I think is camera safe operative time without too much heat IMHO.

for sure an interesting lens ...

although I would have preferred it to be f/4.0 as it would take the place of my 12-24 f/4.0, which I love but which obviously lacks the weather sealing.
