I know he’s a professional, but looking at his images with the D FA*50/1.4 reminds me why the 50 was such a popular kit lens with SLRs. It is a versatile FL. The only problem with looking at these images is that it makes me want to change my mind and think about getting a copy.
I can't get the images to load on his website either, but I followed the link to his Flickr page, and the photos there do look impressive. In particular, the smoothness of the bokeh when wide open and presented with specular highlights in the background is excellent. My FA50 makes interesting bubbles out of such highlights, which while they look interesting, do distract a bit from the in-focus subject. They also show some purple fringing sometimes, which takes a bit of editing to get rid of.
I'm still happy with my FA50, but I see why Pentax decided to redesign the lens and what they worked to improve optically.
