Good, just in time for the forum competition. I expect the number of posts to be 80,000 by the end of June.

If I didn’t own four fast 50s I would jump on this. Maybe I’ll sell the four and get one! .4 m close focusing doesn’t sound that great for close focusing though.
It’s closer than any of the other Pentax 50mm lenses, except the macro.

So far, from the Chinese review:
The starbursts are very good. Not DA15ltd quality, but still very good.
Bokeh seems smooth, highlights appear very uniform.
The bike pictures have a bit of 3D pop, but it's too early to tell. I want to see some portraits in front of busy trees, with light breaking through.

I think this is (obviously) a very good lens. It's not for me (too big, I prefer the limiteds), but good for the Pentax eco system. I'm looking forward to the next lenses!

I don't do enough portrait/street work to justify the extra $ when I have the FF compatible DA* 55. I am curious to see what it would be like for a stitched panorama astro/landscape lens, but maybe not $1200 curious yet.

Still, good to see Pentax putting out this sort of high quality product.

With rounded apeture blades I do not think you will get the starbursts produced by the straight apeture blades like those in the SMC DA 15.

Sure, but given that they are rounded, they're not that bad, no?

Yes, slightly but I guess I will just have to keep my DFA 50 macro 😊

Well, it’s at the expected price point (what I expected) though I’d hoped it to be a bit less. I won’t pre-order, but I’ll be looking to get one shortly after it’s on the shelves.

I hope my 43 doesn’t get jealous...

That's what I was getting ready to say. May not give the starbursts as much, but bodes well for some nice bokeh. On a lens like this, I'll take the bokeh.

I'm thinking maybe the cyber blasts around Thanksgiving. Also gives me time to recover from doing a K1 mark II upgrade, which I think I'll be doing. So spacing this out is good for keeping food on the table.

I'm not worried about my 43. That's just such a special lens, it will always have a place.

Guess I should have made the above two posts to keep up the count, so just making up for it.
