It's out of my price range, and I'm not sure I need another 50, but very exciting to see a new highend lens from Pentax.

The lens is listed for pre-order in Canada (The Camera Store) for CAD $1,600. Adding sales tax brings the total price to CAD $1,800.

still cheaper than in the UK on current exchange rates (GBP1,200 inc VAT)

Guys, you're all missing the biggest change in Pentax lens history. The new 50mm has SEVEN screws on the lens bayonet... I guess Pentax really is screwed... :P

That was the only way to stop that torquey AF from ripping the lens from the mount

Haha, I had to read it at least four times before I spotted the error.

Except for that error, I like the way they announce this, with the special site for star lenses.

Good times are coming, but not for our wallets!

Usually Pentax gear in Spain is more expensive than in the UK but I've just received a mail stating that it's €1200 here (1200 GBP in the UK) with a free protector filter (in case the lens is too sharp and you feel the need to reduce the sharpness and add some nasty flare).
