I don't see Sigma doing anything different or working to get this lens to function on their bodies. What might be interesting is some 3rd party adapter manufacturer getting this lens to work with the Sony E-mount but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I'm left out in the cold with my K-5 II and I couldn't be happier that this lens has come out and will offer performance to stand with anything anyone else is producing for other systems. I hope the 85 is every bit as good as this lens seems to be.

Ugh my dfa 50 snowed arriving today last time I checked and today it’s showing as coming Tuesday. The agonizing wait.

The goal of Pentax is to sell things. They won't create a lense for people who don't buy any new body because they use film, or old IstD.
At some point people have to realise that a legacy is great. But a company can't live in the past.

I'm very happy that Pentax create this amazing lense, and plan to create more. They made an incredible FF body. And an amazing KP body.
Future is forward, not in the "side mirror".
I also believe the adoption of KAF4 means is inexpensive for Tamron and Sigma to adapt their lenses for Pentax, so hoping for a near future where they start offering new lenses for Pentax again.

And more importantly to me, Zeiss.

I really hope so as Sigma just keeps on dishing out amazing lenses.

I don’t care how many lenses Tamron and Tokina and Sigma sell. I care how many lenses Pentax sells.

I just shot a bridal shower today using the new lens. By far the most performant lens I've ever used. All my previous lenses were manual focus only and it's been amazing seeing such high IQ while locking on every time. Will completely change my approach to shooting events in the future.

Who else here has already done professional work with it?

Exactly. Exaggeration's crude and misleading, so I tend towards understatement. Also, I'm trying to be clear that that ranking is not proof of anything, just a positive indication that online sales are going well.

It's amazing how you can post something that seems overwhelmingly positive and wake up the next morning being called a "naysayer".
Im with you on this one, I saw your post as being balanced and in no way a negative feeling.

No doubt, sales of the Tokina 50/1.4 will be interesting, though, assuming the early rumours about it being the D FA*50/1.4 in drag have not been disproven.

If you are seriously considering exemplary, compact 50-ish lenses for the K-01, FA43/1.9 is a starting point.
That sounds like a good lens, I will look into it, thanks for the suggestion!

Pentax can't sell them if they don't design them first. Their product introduction rate is really pitiful.

And that lense is designed by Pentax.

I am fairly certain that all parties involved have said flat out that the Opera 50 is Tokina's version of the Pentax designed D-FA 50 1.4 that just hit the street. If you have followed the clowns who came on the forums claiming that Tokina, (or Tamron,) designed it, (Also not true,) you would have seen the links to comments from persons in the know on who designed it.

What on earth does product introduction rate have to do with anything? I believe - in Social Science - Pentax and its users would qualify as a minority Victim Group.

If you’re jonesing for a new lens every month there’s always Fuji. I’d rather wait a while to get any lens a Sigma Rep called The Category Killer. Mine will be on my desk Monday morning.
