No, neither are Star lenses.

Historically, Star lenses are bigger, better IQ, faster and more expensive.

So there will always be a need for the smaller but still pricey Limiteds, and for most people, the DA series, which are cost effective.
asahi man (it not Pentax themselves) has already said Pentax plans to expand the Limited lineup. That is consistent with building a premium optics company, ready for the resolution of the next generation of sensors.

When we see what the next* APSc platform brings in terms of competitive technology we’ll have a much better idea of what plans there are to complement the camera with new or revised optics. I think consumer cameras and optics will be downgraded in terms of number of products in the Pentax catalog.

* I believe the K-7 / K-1 / 645D Technology platform has reached sunset. The next camera will be a major departure and a totally new architecture.

There is no DFA70-200/4 or 70-210/4. Nothing to discuss.
There is a D FA 70-200 mm f/4 on the roadmap and no 70-210 mm f/4.

I'm pretty sure Pentax said so too in one of the more recent interviews....

Roadmap is even not a paper....Do you know that Tamron 70-210 is not 70-200 in reality? Do you have info about patents for Ricoh 70-200 and can compare Tamron and Ricoh?
No... Alas. That's why it's meaningless discussion...

Yes, they said it in the Pentaxforums' interview. First the D FA*s, then Limiteds. Which makes them... 2010 or later*?

*The roadmap can change without notice.

That would seem make it fit right in among these first threads!

Yet you chose to discuss it.

A certain kind of people kept saying, "there is no D FA* 50mm f/1.4".
Of course there is a D FA 70-200mm f/4. Since it's (still) scheduled for spring 2019, it must be in an advanced stage of development.
It's silly to try suggesting it might be the Tamron, when even the basic specs don't match. Remember how the D FA* 50mm "was" a Sigma, then a Tamron - with Tokina being the 3rd choice (still wrong)?

Pentax would allways have had some sort of consumer tele lens planned to pair with the 28-105. Either a 70–200 or 70-300. The fact it was brought forward may just have been driven by market demand more than anything else. They would definitely have had designs for both prior to the K1 release. Of course it is also possible they have done a deal with a 3rd party manufacturer, but until we see a lens we wont know.

But if third party/Tamron, wouldn't we have it already?

It's just your opinion. Kunzite started to argue against and meddle in my talk with UncleVanya.

It was just assumptions. And it's all. Forum's talks. DFA*50/1.4 wasn't Sigma and it's unreal to be Sigma.
No any relations with Sigma.
But there is Tokina 50/1.4 and it's optically the same DFA*50/1.4.

24-70/2.8 and 15-30/2.8 are Tamron's lenses.

No DFA70-200/4. This lens is just planned, but it doesn't exist.

I'm surprised how you like to argue without cause or under any reason.
Like you protect something absolute. The questions of life and death.

It's just a pieces of glass and plastic.

ogl, I'm not sure if you're aware that you're arguing yourself - quite aggressively. And now you're getting personal - why?

By the way, if you wanted a private conversation with UncleVanya, a public forum is not the best place to have it

FWIW, the DFA 50 is a Pentax design that is being used by Tokina as far as we understand things. Not that different from the DA* 50-135 design which was licensed out also. Frankly the only controversy in relabeling is pricing. It is hard to swallow paying full brand price for what others pay less for, unless there are enough differences in build, coatings, WR, lens correction in camera etc.
