It's one of the odditities, the Pentax site is harder on Pentax than any other type of gear. You can praise Sony or Canon or any other type of gear, everyone nods their little bobble doll heads in agreement. Praise Pentax and you get called a fanboy or worse.
I can point out that most Sony gear wouldn't survive the first few days of one of my expeditions, with Canpn and Nikon gear it's official. They went. They didn't survive. People just go on with their "blah blah blah" not seeming to understand, if your gear isn't rugged enough to survive, it's a piece of junk, not camera. I have seen some very expensive piece of junk on my trips, none of it Pentax. But no one cares. They just go on about "fast AF, or eye-focus" or other "blah blah blah" as if that's more important. They'd rather have a piece of junk that used to have eye-focus and faster AF.c than a functional camera they can actually take pictures with. It's just weird.
It gets old.
When someone says your Sony ARII isn' solid enough to survive one of my trips, folks, that's the end of the conversation. There is no compensatory information that makes up for that. It doesn't matter what you say, it's irrelevant. Once it's broken, it's no longer even a camera. It's a piece of junk.
