I did the updates on my K-3, KP, and K-1. No problems. They all still do AF just fine. Sorry, didn't get out my stopwatch.

In the morning, they now get together and make my coffee.

Nice humor!. Some people just seem to expect too much from updates. Occasionally something significant is added but that is pretty rare with Pentax or Sony. It seems to be a marketing approach with some other brands.

That is the main reason for my skepticism. It is not clear to me why there is an expectation of faster AF or faster anything.

The skepticism is faster, or the AF??

Or both?

Well, I also updated my K-3. As I almost didn't use it when it was on 1.11 (second-hand, mint condition K-3) I cannot speak about stability or AF speed.

I had to do some tinkering so the kit DAL 18-55 WR lens and the AF played well together (plus changing to back-button focusing and some other C parameters) and now it's actually pretty fast (no hunting) and sharp (in the center) and overall cool at f/8... I'm really impressed with the kit lens (and I have the original four-thirds mark II 12-42mm kit lens for my Olympus E-510, which was really good for a kit lens back then!)! Same goes to my Pentax-M 50mm f/1.7: when the AF ticks, I stop and it's usually tack sharp. My other lenses are a bit more temperamental, especially at the far end (28-80 macro and 70-200 powerzoom), and I get more misses than I'd like (either it's slightly out of focus or it is too soft) but really nice at smaller focal lengths, and very sharp in macro pictures.

I don't think I'm getting the new pro lens anytime soon, my 3 next lenses will be the 35mm, the 18-135 and the 55-300, in no particular order... :-)

Cheers!

I'm pleased to report that my "Ladies" are now definitely focusing at least thirty percent faster after this firmware upgrade.
