So, when I download the update, my computer wants to think its a photoshop file, which is probably why the camera can't open it.

it will be a zip file, use an archive manager to open and extract the bin file, 7zip comes to mind. If you double click a .zip file and photoshop opens then file associations need to be changed.

Mac or PC?

Ok, choose the download that is a .zip file, download that to your download folder, unzip that (extract here), from inside the .zip file there is a .bin file, copy (or drag and drop) that .bin file onto the root file of a SD card, pop that into the camera, full battery, hold menu button while starting up.

The West Coast and the Western Isles are just IMHO stunning, especially Harris.

Ok thanks for that

I do want to visit what might be called the Sutherland region or where the Sutherland clan was from, that is not my name but part of my heritage.

I did a comparison before and after in dim light , exact same conditions, 10 AF operations. With the new firmware 1.50, it locks without hesitation, which wasn't the case before. It makes the K1 really great to use now.
It’s faster!!!

But, But, stability fixes aren't supposed to do that!! Do you think that perhaps you have the dreaded Pentax Firmware update sickness???

The lens isn't faster. AF lock is faster with the new firmware.

I also subjectively think that there is less back focusing with the new fw on K-1 (tested with the old FA28/2.8)... but it could also be the very nice and bright weather we have recently

Everyone's potential imagination of the update increasing the AF lock speed makes me hope that an update is released for the K-3 II as well. How could models both older and newer than the K-3 II need the update and it itself would not? Is there a reason that the K-3 II firmware would take longer to create?

Just imagine you have updated it then.

I'm now tempted to upgrade my firmware and if it improved AF I would completely slip the mkII upgrade.

Digital Trends recently reviewed the new 50mm 1.4. The review stated that K-3 II, K-S1, K-S2, and K-50 are all compatible and will need a firmware update. I wonder where they received this information and if it is true. Pentax HD FA 50mm f/1.4 SDM AW Review | Digital Trends
