Laowa 24mm f/14 Relay 2x macro lens for $1?

There are rumors that Laowa will release this "lens" at a pre-sale price of $1. It appears it was first announced over 1 year ago. Are there any rumors this will be available for K mount? If not, are there any adapters for F-mount to K mount or EOS to K mount? I can only find one on B&H.

Doesn't it say "one and only one at $1"? Sounds like a lottery from the pre-orders - bait for the gamblers.

I assumed that meant one order per person. But I imagine you are correct.

The blog says Nikon and Canon, no mention of Pentax. Looks like it is full manual only. I bet you could swap out the Nikon mount with a K-mount taken from an old lens or teleconverter.

I guess none of the PF members that went CP+ last year stopped by the Laowa booth and spotted this lens.

We're still waiting for their 100mm 2× macro that should come in K-mount.

From the FB page linked in the article and the wording in the graphic it seems only the first order gets it for 1 dollar.

But I wonder how much it will retail for the rest of us? Wide angle macro has been an idea floating in my head to really make small settings look like grand canyons. Look at that pizza video with this lens.. it almost looks like a CGI pizzaworld. That's neat.

That said.. it looks like you need external lighting and the tip of this lens is so tiny that ring mounted lights won't do. so far out that a flash probably won't catch it unless you have a ridiculously long snoot. Plus one needs to get really close to the subject to get macroy... So it seems this will have very limited application..

Focus to infinity. There's a few sample videos on the page linked below that look impressive. The lens comes with a waterproof tube with a built-in LED ring light at the tip - clever. The shots of the bees and ants are intriguing because it is normally difficult to get that close without "spooking" the insect. It's shown on a Canon 5D body so it probably has a FF image circle.

I'm excited about this lens. It would certainly make the sort of macro shots I'm interested in much easier. Maybe we should petition Laowa to include K-mount.

Manual focus @ f14, easiest with mirrorless body that has focus peaking both on screen and through the viewfinder and also auto-brightness of both viewing methods so the image you see is the same brightness regardless of the aperture of the lens.
