Q1 2019 Financial Reports - Pentax still not doomed.

Ricoh just published their financial report for the first quarter of FY2019:

Financial Announcement | Global | Ricoh

There are no data concerning Smart Vision any more, just these encouraging sentences:

Smart Vision business revenues and earnings both up, reflecting brisk demands for new models
Earnings increased from domestic finance business expansion and enhanced Smart Vision business profitability

Ricoh seems to have assigned resources to develop this "laser scanning" device for automotive, and investing in a mass production line. Some resources get diverted to non-camera businesses. It all make sense, otherwise I wouldn't see how Ricoh could occupy their camera manufacturing labor force without releasing any new camera model for about two years. Smart vision profits might be increasing by the lack of R&D expenditure and still getting income from inventories of cameras and lenses. For me, if I don't see any new camera model by end of 2019, I'd consider that the Pentax camera staff has been reduced to meaningless size.

So maybe someone can say something about the status of the Ricoh Theta Z1. Is it released? Is it in full production? I don't see any stock around here. Is there only small production at the moment? Is it flying so fast out of the shops in Asia that we don't get any?

You found a place with stock? I only found (not Japanese stores since I can't read them) no stock or on the Ricoh-Imaging store a 3-5 days..... (Wich doesn't mean that they have stock).

Only the camera store has stock! Wich is great, since my looking around (most some Europe countries) did not bring that result.

One says "special order" and the other "usually shipping within 1 to 2 months".

Yeah I wouldn't say the Z1 is as popular as other cameras, so they don't have them readily available behind the counter.
But to suggest that the Z1 isn't in production?

When a big shop like srs says "awaiting stock" then supply must be very limited or waiting for new production I guess.

Ricoh must be bustin' tryin to make these Thetas to order! Wow! They can have them built and shipped to your SRS within a week!

Clearly, the Z1 is available for purchase. The camera stores just don't want to load up on items that aren't going to sell fast.

Maybe if Ricoh worked on their advertising/marketing then the demand would warrant a larger supply at the stores.
