If you already have more formats than anyone else, already have the best APS-c line-up available, and produce FF lenses compatable with your APS-c line-up essentially killing two birds with one stone, you have to see, Pentax has dropped the Q, but has a 645 format not supported by most companies.
Total formats supported, Pentax is right there with anyone. Dropping the least popular format shouldn't be a problem.
Funny how Pentax is seen as the less versatile company, when Canon, Nikon and Sony don't have 645 line ups.... maybe Pentax is less diverse if you only look at part of the picture. But, they were probably just supporting too many formats for the size of the company with the Q. And the decision to not make the Q macro was probably based on projected sales numbers, not a wish on the part of the company to drop the format. I'm sure they still wish everyone had bought one.
