Given the choice between a 15mm limted and the exceptional and more versatile 12-24 - if the IQ is similar or the same - I don't see the 15 selling very well.
I suppose it could have better edge distortion and edge sharpness than the 12-24, but edge qualities never were very important to me, maybe that's why I feel underwhelmed about the potential impact of this lens.
We will have to wait and see, won't we? This is harsh reality, since I am aching for an excuse to buy a new Limited.
The exact image properties will matter a lot as to whether this lens is a must-have or a bit of an also-ran. Edge qualities
are important to me for enough of my shooting to make it a decisive factor. That's why I like my DA16-45. But lately I am tending towards primes more and more. If the DA15 Limited has better IQ then it wins on that score and wideness and size, losing in the comparison only on flexibility (and price?).

You're losing me here. Perspective one can change by moving. FOV one can change only by changing lenses. So surely having the old 85mm equivalent it's more important for the FOV to be the same? And even better if the IQ is the same!
Me, I've got the FA43 and FA77, which pretty well covers it. Only if the DA*55 is astounding will it be enticing.
