Maybe metal price is high..? Without plastic I guess they couldn't lower the price enough to be competitive.
It's plastic to save weight, combining it with the small body.

Of course, it's also cheaper, another bonus for Pentax and the buyer.

I like it, I'd buy it if its small enough and still has SR.

And I really like the 15mm prime, sign me up for that.

I hope they also sell it body only for those of us who already have lenses... or as a "pancake kit".
Only way I would buy one of these ...make a nice kit with the 21, 35 macro and 70mm - perhaps the new 15 when available.

if the K-m's image is better than K10D, I may just switch it. lighter is good, at least for me as I focus on landscape more.

The image is better, K-M has K200D's engine.
I'd like to buy K-M+DA15 for landscapes.

Not to mention that K10D maxes out at 1600 ISO.

Good move in low-end sector....
But what can we wait in the class higher than K20D?

hmmm viewfinders suck these days

shame about the pentamirror.

I'm interested to see the new panasonic micro 4/3ds viewfinder. Its meant to be almost full coverage and quite bright, but its electronic so I don't know how that would work with manual focus. Plus I love my pentax lenses.

Personally, I don't care for full frame. If I wanted full frame I'd go with Canon, Nikon or Sony. I like the crop factor.

I thought 4/3rds was dead and had lost innovation, but these new announcements are quite exciting. It would be boring if every camera was full frame, 8 frames per second with the same "perfect" sensor.

Panasonic has even dared to make its new SLR in different colours. Shock horror. Again, I see this as a good sign. SLRs have kind of looked like similar black boxes for quite a while now. Time for some crazy experimentation like in the 70s.

Pentax needs to decide which direction it wants to go in. Personally I think they are better trying to compete with 4/3rds.
