That's clear to me that micro 43 have put efforts into their software features, although the sensor is smaller, beside bare image quality, the micro 43 cameras have it all. But prices have increased, some of the micro 43 camera are as expensive as full frame cameras, good u43 lenses aren't cheap either. I was recently looking at getting a micro 43 small kit but the prices put me off.

Well,i'll give you some advice on how to get in cheaply.

For good light the Panasonic 12-32/35-100 and Olympus 75-300 are all excellent. The 9mm fisheye and 15mm are both pancake body caps, not great but cheeep.

In low light, the Pentax 110 18/24/50/70mm are all constant f2.8 lenses...the 70mm is in transit so cant judge that one.The first 3 are pretty good and i use them on my Q series as well. Those 4 lenses can be had for 30-40 U$ each...but i did get an 18 for U$15,search the 2nd hand places

The 110 film size is a perfect match for M43 sensor 17x13.

Bodies are pretty cheap...for instance the OMD em5 first edition has ibis,is weather sealed and can be had for U$150.I have 2 both with grips.

For carrying a small camera the GM1(no evf) GM5 with EVF are Pentax Q size...they do great 60p video.(1080)

I highly recommend the OMD em10 mk 3....just the funnest most capable little thing i own.No WR but built solid.Great features.

My K-1 bag is 3 times the weight of the M43 bag...I think it compliments a FF system .

The only new components i bought are 35-100 and em10 mk3.

Search around,its a good system....

This may be Pentax's attempt to please both those who want a smaller camera and those who do not want a MILC.
And it's more important than continuing the K7 ... series?
K3 came almost 5 years ago, then K3II came 1 and a half years later as a low upgrade (still with a low iso sensor).
Then nothing.
I use K5IIs much more than K3 because of the sensor.
How many are still interested in a K3III?
Many have been waiting for it for 2-3 years, some have switched to K1, Sony or Fuji.
I hope Fuji buys Pentax, instead of Ricoh's slow death.

You could also use table spoon to dig the ground, it also works, if that's how you select your equipment.

What you don't get is that most of the photography results are gotten thanks to the know-how of the professional, if you don't have his know-how, advertising of equipment will not help.
Exactly. A 70-200 f2.8 lens is for event and sport photography where there is sub-optimal light. This could be weddings, it could some other event, but yes, there are places where f4 isn't good enough and where you want the flexibility of changing focal length without changing lenses.

While having f1.4 primes available is nice, they aren't necessarily more useful than an f2.8 zoom. Depth of field is really narrow on full frame at f1.4 and f2 and if you are taking photos of people and want all of them in focus, you will be stopped down a bit anyway, even if you are using primes. The DFA 70-200 is sharp wide open and so that is nice from that standpoint.

I wouldn't tend to use a 70-200 f2.8 to shoot landscape. It can be done, but it is pretty unwieldy and I'd rather just choose the focal length I prefer and shoot with that. Landscapes are easy because they are what they are and they give you time to get into position and it is easy to "zoom with your feet" (assuming you aren't at the edge of a cliff).

Dont hold your breath!

I dont think Pentax is for sale or even saleable,Fuji is a diversified company with all divisions expanding. There would be zero interest.

A big Company like Samsung may consider it,however they closed camera operations when they saw the market shrinking and so diverted their resources to Smartphones the expanding market(back then).

They are producing sensors and have publicly stated they want a slice of the camera sensor market.Their tech is proven with the BSI in the last 2 NX models.

Fuji has no interest in developing a SLR line. Neither had Samsung - remember how, when they "collaborated" with Pentax, their actual intention was to stab Pentax in the back and secretly work on the NX mirrorless line?

But you know who does have an interest in developing the K-mount SLR line? Ricoh. They're not throwing money like Sony did, OTOH during their ownership we had the FF and lenses like the D FA*s.

So stop looking for owners who would only kill the brand.

It's more a question of Ricoh selling than somebody else buying, and I can't see any reason why Fuji would want to buy Pentax other than to grab a few patents and close it down

This sensor, Sony Pregius IMX342LQA, is a machine vision sensor with a 4:3 aspect ratio (not 3:2).

Its applications are described in the flyer: FA (Factory Automation) cameras and ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) cameras.

So the K-3 replacement would be a MILC???
Fuji is showing zero interest in DSLR.

Fuji had no DSLR. It's logical.

I beg to differ on the Olympus 75-300. It's known to be weak beyond 200mm, my Pentax 55-300 is much better. Unfortunately the only better choice is 4x the price.

Body and lens development, very interesting and in 2 classes.
So we will see (not on Photokina probably) two successors to the K-1.

I've been wondering if they might develop a 24mp FF camera - easier to get lower noise and faster, longer bursts, but people waiting for a K3 replacement will still complain about "reach" - and the 'picture' about using DA lenses is still incomplete.

added: they could have a DFA 55-300 in the works, or even a DFA 100-450
