This could be a "strategic announcement", such as a decision to work with Samsung, rather than a product announcement.

That makes a lot of sense given there have been no leaks of any kind. Really hard to keep things buttoned up completely when there is actual hardware out in people's hands. But a strategic move like perhaps a move to a Samsung sensor could be kept very firmly under wraps.

When has an alliance with a sensor manufacturer been news? Camera makers like to keep their options open and their sources private.

Perhaps we are getting beyond even rumor here since this is at best idle speculation. But I would think something like Pentax announcing they will use a Samsung sensor in future would be front page news for all camera related sites. Now whether they would actually announce such a thing or just keep us guessing as to what is under the hood is another question.
