Well... I guess GR III doesn't classify as 'lame point and shoot camera', does it...

Why Elvis and not Frank Sinatra or Sid Vicious?
Or Claude François, who wrote the song?

So now we finally know. Ricoh announced... development of GR III. Sigh. :-( So not the worst case scenario (no news), but second worst (no new camera or lens, just announcement that they started something).

Actually there is bad new there...they have developed a new camera (GRIII) AND lens, whereas it was the lens that was so loved about the camera.

Question is, why the lens needed changing...does this mean it really will have a FF curved sensor?

Who knows. But at least we know what it is now.

Its APSC. Its the same focal length and F-stop. Maybe they improved the quality even further...

APS-C, flat sensor, no 24x36 curved sensor.

The new lens could be linked to PDAF being coupled with CDAF:smaller focusing group and/or new focus motor to improve speed and reduce noise during video recording (think 55-300 PLM).

Oh wait...I see the specs now. So the main difference seems to be 24MP sensor...3-axis SR (and therefore dust removal)...hybrid AF...
I don't see reference to WR (or lack of).
Am I missing something? I was waiting for the announcement to see whether to get a GRII or wait. Seeing as it looks like I'll be waiting til 'early 2019' (next summer at the earliest, in Ricoh time) I guess the decision is made...used GRII now, trade in if the price is right later.

No final product GRIII yet. No full specs.

The design and specifications are identical to those first announced publicly about the camera’s development, and are subject to change without notice.

Wasn't the 11-18 going to be released in spring? I think we can safely ignore any predicted timescales until the retailers have pre-orders available.

So 1769 post and "zero" news in Pentax camera systems. I like GR concept but this is "Pentax News and Rumors"

To be honest with you, I am not impressed. All this "buttoned down" secrecy looks like an attempt by Ricoh to manufacture some news when they didn't have any genuine news. This was not your 'fault'. You never were 'on the hook' ..... but Ricoh didn't impress me any; this was a non-event from my perspective.
