The new lenses roadmap is a big dissapointment.
To go to menu to switch on SR is simply silly...

See page 68 of manual of K200d.

There are also statistics of users that SR can cause blur in normal condition.
The onlything said is thatyou should disable itifyou don't use it.
Care the find any valuable argument ?

I'd love that on my K10D. It happens far too often that I toggle the SR off by accident.

How can you think - WHY?
Explain If SR can't cause any problem, why you should disable it?

Check the problem of working SR in normal condition thru pentax's forums and you will know a lot of interesting things...

I leave mine on at all times; except when I use a tripod. And since tripod photography is about 7% of my overall shooting; it's hardly inconvenient.

Pentax K-m Hands-on Preview: 7. Displays: Digital Photography Review
No problems with switch on/off SR - direct access to menu - like in E-1 and other Olympus cameras.
I'm relax.^)

Dissapointment.

I was interested in DA* 60-250mm f/4. But not for this price.
Ringflash - I don't need it.
DA* 55mm - very expensive and I don't need it, I already have FA 43mm and 77mm.
DA 15mm Ltd... That may be interesting. I'm very afraid that price will be very high... It's a recent Pentax trend to overprice it's products.
K-m. I don't need it.

And worst thing is that I can't see that any of the announced products will be sold in high volumes. Many say that K-m is a great camera for people coming from P&S and millions will be sold... I don't think so.

Two things: AA batteries and no LiveView. People coming from P&S want LiveView and LiIon batteries. They won't care about features like Wireless flash, Mirror lockup etc. K-m doesn't look for me like camera for masses. It looks more like travel camera (together with pancake primes) for existing Pentax users...

Hi Edvinas,
Gotta disagree with you on the AA's.....I think the opposite may apply. I love AA's, I may have the opportunity to visit some very isolated places overseas in the next year or so ...it will be the K200D that will go with me, and few packs of lithiums.
Cheers.

All I can find is people explaining why it should be off on a tripod, or when panning WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT THE MANUAL SAYS.

I'm not going to continue arguing this with you, you seem to have made up your mind already.

Actually now ogl says he is relaxed about this.

Me I'm relaxed all the time, but not so relaxed that I turn of the SR.
Been wondering which turns out best, with or without, when shooting from a car, boat or similar, but that's exactly when Pentax doesn't guaranty that it will improve anything ("...and conditions where camera shake other than by hand is expected.")
Other than that, SR works in a fantastic way. So I don't think that the intended buyers of the K-m, new DSLR users, will be turning of that SR very much.
Ogl, Pentax didn't make this camera for you or me. If we still buy it because we want a small camera, we have to live with these compromises.

In some cases high volumes aren't necessarily the goal, although I doubt anyone at Pentax would be upset by huge sales. With these two new lenses, Pentax can finally showcase a fairly complete lineup of lenses, both zooms and primes. I think that's a very big deal. Even if a new user doesn't buy them all, the fact that these lenses exist is an inducement in and of itself; it says Pentax is a major player.

Not necessarily! The AA batteries were a big selling point for me when I bought my first DSLR. (I used 2000mA NiMH batteries and they lasted over 1,000 shots easily.) The lack of LiveView wasn't ever a factor. My feeling at the time was "Wow, I finally have a real camera!"

Wow. The "shooting mode information display" menu seems really straight forward and quick to make changes. The next best thing to a direct body button. Like really quick. Wow. Damn that really caught me by suprise.

Admiration for the new lenses but great disappointment about cameras. I was looking for a new APS - FF or a K20 upgrade.
