Assuming all of this is true, any guesses as to the pixel size? 30 mp strikes me as being to close to the K-1 and I would think Ricoh would not want to cannibalize K-1 sales to the K-3 successor because of this. But considering that the 24 mp sensor size has been around for 5 years now and in all the APS-C cameras, I think Ricoh needs to bump the size up to at least 26 mp if not 28 mp. Then again, if a K-1 successor goes with a 42-45 mp sensor then a 30 mp one would slot in quite nicely below that.
At some point Dynamic Range, Color Depth, and noise issues arise as the sensor sites become crowded on the sensor. I don't know how use of something like the 'accelerator' might factor into all of this. Experimenting with various settings might help to explain why developing K-3 replacement has seemed to "drag".
