As someone before me said, this is a nice lens lineup ... all it needs is an ultra wide limited prime (15mm Ltd. is nice tho) and some f/2.8 tele glass (300mm for instance).

Then they can start building on a PRO body.

Why do they really have to go FF? Let C&N&S battle it out? It's hard to get Pentax glass as it is, let alone if they would try to support 2 format systems. Anyway, Oly can't go FF, not even APS-C so why can't Pentax stay (at least for forseeable future) with APS-C and capture as much of the market in that segment as possible. F.E. all current bodies are still being built around FF mirror box/shutters. But we don't have FF sensor behind them. So why can't they just keep the Kmout and make the rest of it bit smaller in line with the size of the sesor. Resulting camera even with built in grip would be smaller and lighter than EOS 1D or D3. So why can't they specialise for APS-C. They are finishing great lens line up, why let it all be and go for FF?????
BR

PS: sorry I just got this rush of thoughts and couldn't stop them...

What about the register distance? This is one thing you can't change. The diameter of the mount is another. Well, that means you have immutable depth and width of the chamber if you want to preserve the compatibility of older lenses, or maybe an adapter could be used, but such an adapter would have contain also optical elements to correct the register distance. I'm not sure how this would be accepted.

(If I'm wrong, somebody correct me, please.)

@Gumysh
You are kinda wrong. FF lenses are really no different from APS-C lenses except that they cover a bigger image circle. So the distance from the sensor is the same but with an APS-C sensor you "throw" some of the lenses coverage away.

So yes, just stick a bigger sensor in there and you have FF with lenses that cover it.

God, that's a long time to wait for the DA15 Limited. I would like one now... if it captures like the DA35 Limited.

I wasn't sure about the 55mm F1.4DA*, having the 50mm F1.4FA instead, but come to think of it, the 55mm with the 1.4x SDM converter, would make a rather nice 77mm F2 DA*. This combo would make an excellent portrait lens.........

Seems silly to me that they are relying upon Sigma and Tamron for the very popular 70-200/f2.8 lenses.

And even the TC is DA so FF ain't gonna happen soon. And the TC itself can't be happening soon as they can't even put a date on it?

My overall feeling about that roadmap is a let down - hard to say why, maybe it's the lack of speed at the longer ends - 60-250/f4 17-70/f4 300/f4
Maybe I'm just being stupid.

Not at all. I said it before a year ago and I'll say it again... "what's with all the f/4 lenses?!" To be answered by the hoards of folks who can't hold-up a nice hefty camera+lens kit for too long, or think Pentax should just limit themselves to 'commodity' lenses. Well to that I say I can pay for it, and I can hold it up for a long time, and I wish I could have bought my 300mm f/2.8 new w/a Pentax label on it rather than Sigma. ...and no, I wasn't going to risk buying old used from Japan @ the time I was buying... So Arpe, I'm with you. I'm not content, on the long end of their line-up at least.

Looking at the roadmap, on the level of DA*60-250 but just after it to the right is a square sign saying: DA Super telephoto.
Does it mean that they are planning something like 300 or 400 non DA*? or is it just description of something else on that I'm missing?
I have actually seen the prototype last night. It is the be-all-end-all "DA* Phantom". I think C/N/O/S will have a severe headache trying to match it.

So you saw the "superzoom" and that's all you are saying?
Nice rumor....

No DFA will be..

Pentax's DFA lens are just two copy.

DFA macro 50 and 100.

I think Pentax is bear in mind FF.

*55, *200, *300, 35Ltd is FF compatible.

but they don't use 'DFA', just 'DA'

It looks quite stratigical.

roadmap is almost empty.

only *30 and supertelephoto.

*30 will not compatible to FF(if it is f/1.4)
- because that wide angle and apperture are difficult to make.
- compare FA35/2 and Sigma 30mm f/1.4 for DA
Sigma, it is horrible IQ at edge. because more than wide and more brighter.
- see Canon/Sony's 35mm f/1.4 for FF, 30mm is much wide.
It is difficult to make FF compatible with resonable IQ and size/weight/price
- If it is f/2.0 or higher, FF compatible is much easier.
- I am afraid *30 is Sigma 30.4's OEM version.

supertelephoto will be FF compatible.
because that is telephoto lens.(I can't explain more 'cause I can't speak English much better)
think *50-135's 133mm~135mm, 16-45's 24mm.. 200mm, 300mms

roadmap is almost empty.
maybe next year PMA, we can see 85,24-70,70-200s, the traditional FF angles.

with mock up of new FF, K30D, K300D.

think about this :
spring : K10D, K100D, K20D, K200D, ...
fall : K2000(Km), K2D, K3000, K3D ...

the new lineup circle.

I'm still scratching my head over the lack of a Pentax version of the 11-16.
It is not in the roadmap because it is too far away. The roadmap is from now to spring-summer 2009. The 11-16 comes after that, and will be included in the spring 2009 roadmap that will be official at the PMA show. Also other lenses scheduled for spring-fall 2009 will be in that one. So more lenses are in the works than the roadmap shows.
A problem for Pentax is that they can only introduce one lens at a time.
They need several weeks before each production start of a new lens, because it takes time to prepare the factory and personell and make test runs etc etc. With many lenses standing in line, awaiting to be released, it takes many many months.
