The bokeh will be soooo good...

Why we all must buy the DA* 55mm

ClubSNAP Photography Forums - View Single Post - New Pentax Stuff: a new dSLR camera and several lenses

New coating significantly increase the light transmission and at the same time, reduce the incidence of flare and ghost

9 bladed circular aperture

9 elements in 8 groups with ED (extra low dispersion) glass.
Min focusing distance is 0.45m (0.17x magnification).
58mm filter thread, 375g

All SDM-driven lenses have a KAF3 mount. It's a fancy term for those two extra contacts.

KAF3 means No Screwdrive!, SDM only, for K10D and up. For all previous models: manual focussing.
Just like the 17-70.

Think how big the Sigma is already (I've got one as well - superb lens, use it for weghtlifting practice). Imagine how big it would be a stop faster.
Isn't the Sigma a 135 format lens? Aren't both the 70-200 f2.8 lenses as well? What would you expect of a APC only lens?

Thank you

The DA* 60-250mm looks nice and I like the fact that it is weather sealed, but am I the only one that isn't excited about this lens because it is an f/4? I have a Sigma 100-300mm f/4 that I am about to sell because it is not fast enough and I just don't use it enough. Why not make this a f/2.8

If they made the 60-250mm 2.8 it would then make the da 50-135 2.8 obsolete....

I really want that Da* 55mm f1.4

To me, it is not a replacement of Fa 85/1.4

The 55mm lens perspective remains the same at this focal length and the imagery is closer to our normal vision. I am a fan of 50mm and at the same time, most 50mm sucks when it comes to bokeh and sptacular highlight issue.

This will compete to have a place with my A 50/1.2 and Nokton 58mm/1.4

We will see

LBA bites when I read such lines as this.

According to Hirakawa the new lens will be creamier than *85 mm and offer more punch than the FA77 mm. He also said that it had been really challenging to develop the focusing mechanism on this lens to achieve the right feel. For me at least this lens is a must buy. Bokeh lovers around the world will be pleased.

only if they made it small enough to fit in my bag. In reality that lens (60-250 F2.8) would compare in size to a prime 300mm F2.8 which weighs in at close to 3kg (5.5lb).

I sure hope they tell us what they have in mind for there "super duper telephoto" ... or whatever they called it on the roadmap. I'm hoping for a 500mm F4. They already make a 300mm F2.8 and a 600mm F4 but if looked in the stands (where the pro's were sitting) at the last olympics the most common lens by far was a 500mm F4. If they could make that lens weather sealed and SDM I'd a professional sports photog could legitimately shoot Pentax glass.

I'm anxious to see how the 55 will compare to my favorite lens, the Nokton 58mm. I'd love to have the same or better image quality in a weather sealed lens that will auto focus. Saving my pennies now.
thats what I wonder, the nokton has reached position 2 on my wishlist, so it isn't too far away
