Yawn.

I'm sure existing GR fans will be happy (all twelve of you.)

For everyone else, this camera is irrelevant, and has been irrelevant since the Fuji X100 (viewfinder and excellent design) and the Sony RX1 (biggest sensor in a compact camera.)

Plus the GR always looked like cheap industrial design from the mid 1990s. Seriously? Ricoh needs to do better than this.

Havent seen a mention of dust sealing, though.
They added dust removal, via 3-axis sensor stabilization.

Yes, what I meant was rather WR... anyway. I like the offering.

Is this it ? ... Panasonic?s first full-frame mirrorless cameras promise a lot for 2019 - The Verge
(apologies if this has already been posted).

Being aimed at the pro market generally means good on core competencies rather than anything too eye-catching - they've certainly succeeded in the second (hurricane???) - time will tell regarding the first.

Ricoh must have a big enough market for the GR to keep making them. The design is a strength: tiny camera with enough controls for customization, yet a good grip for 1 or 2 handed shooting.

Let's look at your comparison to the Sony RX1. The original RX1 is 6 years old and could be criticized as old tech, yet still costs $2400. The newest model is $3300. It's very compact for FF, but compared to the GR is twice as deep and not readily pocketable.

Re. Fuji X100(F), it's a bit larger and more expensive than the GR. Not a bad camera if you need the viewfinder, but otherwise not any greater than the GR. 2 good cameras with different features.

I guess Panasonics S1 and S1R are aimed at everyone who wants to have fun when shooting with a FF camera...
And the only drawbacks i can see so far are:
1. Its not a PENTAX
2. It has not KA(2,3,4 or whatsoever number) mount...
3. Its not a DSLR and offers no Optical Viewfinder
4. Its not a PENTAX

- dont get me wrong... i certainly wont buy a pig in a poke... but if RICOH fails to deliver equally good gear on a long term...(2years or so)...
this looks like a ship to jump to.
And at least in Panasonicland it doesnt seem like a bad idea to have a multi dual card slot system... and so deliver a memory card compromise that should be pleasant to nearly everybody ...

It is much more compact than the GR II:

In fact about the size of the Sony RX100 but with a flatter profile, so more pocketable.

No need to compare by photos.

There are specs.

GRIII
109.4(W)×61.9(H)×33.2(D) mm

Ricoh GR Digital IV
109 x 60 x 33 mm

GRII
117.0 mm (W) × 62.8 mm (H) × 34.7(D) mm

The camera is same dimension as Ricoh GR Digital IV with 1/1.7" sensor !!!!!!!

It's good that the GR gets compared to cameras at 2x and 5x the price and still comes out on top in some areas and at least comparable in most.
As for the design...aside from the fact that looking fashionable is irrelevant flim-flam, for its key audience (street shooters) flashy and cool would detract from its usability, as it would make it noticeable and eye-catching. Discrete and low-key is what it needs to be.

The price of S1 and S1R will be higher than Canon and Nikon.

Pentax is the brand name only for a long time already.

This sounds just about perfect for me. Wish it had WR, but DR will have to do (for now).

Thanks, Ricoh!

I would assume that part of redesigning the lens has something to do with not sucking up dust too, don't you think?
