It's not really a new battery. They've used it before in the Caplio CX3:

I read in descriptions for Pentax DSLRs that power consumption of SR is neglected.

More megapixels also means more processing, especially when the nr-chip is introduced in the GR III. Camera processing chips severely lag behind the chips in smartphones which are now 10nm. The newest Socionext Milbeaut which isn't even in Pentax cameras yet is made on a 55nm process. In comparison In 2008 I bought a Core2 Duo E8400 processor for my PC that was made on a 45nm process. You could say antiquated.

The previous GR I and II were made in China. Ricoh must have moved it to their facility in Vietnam where Pentax lenses are made. There were also k-s2's made in Vietnam.
