I have used the Sony A7rII for a few years now, and have become a great fan of BSI sensors, although I am not sure the benefits (better color separation and color detail, better IQ at moderately high iso 800-1600) on APS will be as noticeable as they are on FF.

Chris
Sensor used on the Q-7/S1 is BSI; those cameras are not super expensive and work well. I don't see any reason to question its usefulness on sensors between 1/1.7" and FF.

US price: $899.95.

Ricoh GR III camera US price: $899.95, announcement tomorrow - Pentax Rumors

I think their announcement hour is 12 hours off. Ricoh Imaging make their announcements on Thursdays at 7am JST, not 7pm, hence in less than 3.5 hours.

I was right when writing the rumoured announcement schedule was 12 hours off but wrong in my correction (backward instead of forward). The Ricoh GR III (+ G900 and WG-6) should be announced on Thursday 21 February at 5pm EST / 10pm UTC / 11pm CET / on Friday 22 February at 7am JST.

Update: the Ricoh GR III camera will be announced tomorrow (February 21st at 5 pm EST) - Pentax Rumors

Which OoKU and I wrote a few days ago, by the way, but I made a mistake this afternoon.

I don't understand your question/statement.
We've known all along that "Ricoh GR" cameras are not ILC.

The GRIII is long over due. The 24mp sensor with Accelerator Unit, IBIS and 14-bit RAW files will deliver excellent image quality.

"The Ultimate Snap Shooter" should include UHS-II.

I meant: Is this the only new device announcement (no K-mount device announcement) in CP+? If that's the case, my reaction is "yikes". I am aware GR-III is not ILC.

Are we avoiding what many are really interested in? A flagship APS-C. Does this GR3 announcement mean we are not getting it this time either?

I don’t think the GR3 is in place of an APS-C flagship, but I tend to think if it was ready, we would have heard about it...

That said, a preview of a fall release doesn’t seem impossible...

I expect to maybe see an 85mm prototype and the 70-200 f4 show up on the show floor...

No, we're not ignoring it, exactly. We have been talking about the K-3ii replacement Pentax has been 'promising' for a year now, and we're taking a "breather" from that. Pentax will announce it when they're ready, and apparently that isn't now.

Look at #556 and #562 on the previous page of this thread.

That is just the point, a K3II replacement has never been a realistic "promise" in the past 1,5 years, whilst it was expected with a fairly big degree of certainty, and even demand, by many. I was also "waiting" for such a camera to go with my DA560, because the K3(II) did not have sufficient AF capability and reliability, and its high iso was not that great. The KP has clearly been Pentax' plan with higher positioned APS.

I have been trying to develop a realistic take on where Pentax has been heading and ís heading. I believe the GRIII is all for now. Why? Simply because there are no indications that a new APS body is near announcement, let alone release, so its existence is mostly in expectations and wishful thinking. I believe a new ASPS body ís a possibility for this year, but fár from a certainty.

B.t.w. I am in fact mostly positive about Pentax products. My posts show that I was very positive about the new DA11-18* lens, positive about the FF K1mkII, very positive about the DA560 in the past, when virtually everyone was scolding this lens. Not so positive about the KP, true. It is however not realistic to look away from the lack of support with new products that máy be vital to some....
