so far I can see:
1. no popup flash
2. no ev+- buttons
3. no AF toggle
4. additional wheel ok d-pad(possibly for EV)
5. substantially larger screen(touchscreen)
6. video recording function added to wifi button
2. no ev+- buttons seems to have moved to the ADJ. Lever at least this is what is now indicated as a function of the ADJ. Lever +/- from the images of the GRIII.

Did you ever use it with your GR?
I think I did once. Just because.
My wife's happy it's there. I don't give a damn. Not on this cam.

A pity my GR (I) is not PTTL compatible though...

They like unexpected ideas...

The idea to make GR smaller, but with SR and different UI is unexpected for many photo amateurs...But it's brainwave. The camera is loaded with new 24 MP sensor (14-bit), new AF, new processor, SR, ultrasonic DRII system, new battery, and will be supplied with new wide and tele conversion lenses. And...it has better video. Yes. Not 4K, but better than GRII.

And GRIII is even better for smaller pockets. I measure my jeans pocket - 130*170 mm. Cool.

It's a bit (lot) late for requests when the specs are confirmed, prototypes built and production run about to start.

It will not be WR. It will have DR to help with the dust issue, which was the biggest complaint. Not many people struggle with rain since it can hide in a pocket or under a peak of a cap or a hand. It's small enough to miss most of the raindrops anyway.

And since the controls allow you to use it with your right hand only, you have your left hand free to hold an umbrella. In that sense it's the only camera that has WR for the user as well as the camera.

I am always surprised by how few fixed lens cameras are designated as WR (as opposed to waterproof). Since the camera is one unit, it would seem easier than for an ILC. My best theory is that the camera makers are worried that if they make a WR compact, users will misinterpret it as waterproof and take into the water, causing warranty issues. So they have just decided not to bother.

In any case, I'm not worried about the GR III, because it has DR. Also, I'm convinced that a lot of the cases of dust on the sensor were cause by people not keeping it in any sort of case. I would always keep such an expensive camera in a case of some kind, even just a simple sleeve.

With all the people talking about being able to fit this camera in their pockets, I think we know where the dust problem comes from. It's more like a lint problem.
