Let me prefer this one, just to testify that the K-01 concept is definitely the good one, that only needs better styling as well as tech-updates to be a top-notch K-mount mirrorless :

Most importantly, they would need EVF.

The weight difference is marginal between my K5 and the KP (37g, hardly worth thinking about) and in dimensions, the K5 is smaller all round. I considered it but its not a goer, for me.

And goodda.. as much as i hate the 2 additional wheels on the K-1

the K-01 sincerly is missing at least one more wheel .... a front e-dial.

........ ahnd a thumbstick... ..... pssst....

Don’t measure the prism height. Measure the shoulder height. KP shoulders are lower and the body away from the mirrorbox is thinner.

Of that count, it already was
And yes, the styling and ergonomics are a bit poor, until you get it on a tripod or a gimbal.
Heck, on a gimbal they're superb, because all the mass is compactly located.

A clip on loupe and a higher quality screen - equivalent to that used in the SmallHD 501 or 502 veiwfinder - would be all that's needed.

I have a KP and a K-5 before, I can mention there a huge difference in practical sense for size.

Thanks.

I'd also be interested in that. I guess the only way, really, is to handle one. But, at this point, not only am I not considering a KP, I'm also considering selling off my K5... I will make do with my K200D, if I sell the other.

Yes I suppose so, I can do that in a large town some distance away. Be interesting, I do like the way the K-5 and K-3 sit in my hand, I know I'd always keep my K-5. Anyway plenty of time, I'm going to see what comes next.

Yeah, me too. I love my Pentaxes so I would be hanging out to see if there are new entry level cams (usually much lighter than the flagship models) in the offing.

Me too, I would at some time like to obtain a low mileage at the right price K-5IIs, to ensure the possibility of making pictures with that sensor. I like my K-3, I may sell it for a K-3II but probably not, maybe a KP, maybe not, but as said have to see what comes next, probably keep it and add to the collection.

Maybe for you.

I'd been using my Q-7 for six months when my Canon Rebel died, and I chose a Pentax to replace it. The first thing I did was to eliminate the K-01 from consideration; even if the screen had been truly wonderful, the simple fact was that the clip on loupe was just as much bother as I thought it would be. MILCs succeeded only when companies started putting EVFs on them.

Does anyone clip a loupe on their phone?

Does anyone make a phone with an EVF?

Out-of-doors, when I use my smart phone as a camera, I'm getting a vague snap shot .... I point it in the general direction of interest, touch the shutter, and then look for a sheltered spot to see what I got. With my camera, I carefully compose a photo using the viewfinder. There is no comparison between the two.
