Or just a gleam in Ricoh's eye?

Don't be a pessimist. This gives a reason to hope that the K-3 replacement will be more than just a minor update.

Hopefully this goes into the K-3II successor along with much better AF algorithms. I'm hoping that this will allow more spread out AF points with much better AF confirmation.

Are you thinking a hybrid AF - PDAF to get there quickly with CDAF to make sure it is correct?

They really need to implement a hybrid OVF/EVF. Other companies have patents for hybrid viewfinders as well, but nobody has ever brought one to market. My guess is that they hybrid basically costs as much as the OVF + EVF making it a pricey option.

Looks huge! Maybe this is something they would put in their APS line up since the whole system will be smaller. w

I was just thinking of better AF performance overall, but that would be awesome if they could do something like that. If they could actually implement that at lightning speed, not only will it make focus accuracy insanely good, but this will be a game changer in DSLR cameras. You can say good-bye to manual AF adjustment for any lens, since the AF will always lock-on dead accurately. Yeah, there will be times where the camera will be too stupid to figure out what you're trying to focus on, though. Hahaha!

The Nikon D500 has some kind of lens auto AF adjustment, but I don't think it uses any kind of CDAF for that & I don't think it does it every single time while focusing.
