Years are basically an artificial barrier. I know very little about any plans of theirs - but @asahiman 'proved himself' during lead-up to Photokina, so one can do much worse than to use his words as guidance.

A difference between taking some piece of information and twisting said piece of information in a manner the author never intended.

Asahi man never said that Pentax is only working on FF. Asahi man said what we already knew, that Pentax is prioritizing FF which is only logical, given that the D FA lens line is incomplete. Yet this focus on the FF is not complete; we know of the DA* 11-18mm. To pretend we don't is deliberate misinformation.

Currently nearly all the development power is going into K fullframe SLR.

Body and lens development,very interesting and in 2 classes.

But, SLR!!

Best regards
@reh321 @Kunzite

I infer that means D FA lenses and D FA* lenses, not 2 new FF bodies; but maybe a K-1 ll replacement..

He said they are working on FF cameras. I never said they were focusing on FF only ..... but three bodies this coming year seems to me to be plenty of work for them, so I guessed that they would work on 2 FF and 1 APS camera. I said nothing about numbers of lenses. What is your problem with that??? {especially when other people are making all kinds of wild guesses}

It would make sense for a new aps-c body to appear with the new 11-18mm. Sort of like the K-1ii and DFA 50 did this year.

Yes, a new APS-C camera makes sense - 2 FF ones don't. Then there's other stuff they're working on.

I'm not sure how yet another K-1 makes sense.

I never said anything about yet another K-1.

@asahiman's words seem to indicate more than just FF lenses under development. In time we will learn what the truth is, but two of them, bracketing the K-1, fits his words and would be one reasonable approach.

From words by @asahiman, I expect most of this year's announcements to be FF.
They can design only so many camera bodies a year.
If they also announce a "flagship" (*), that doesn't leave much room for anything else.

(*) and for sake of those waiting, I hope they do
A simple "miss direction" statement to get lots of people looking a different direction.

I agree 2 FFs is a bit of a stretch assumption. Agreed on the APS-C.

I would think with the mark II version of the K-1 still fresh, we're more likely headed towards an APS-C body next. Given the original release date of the K-1, I can see a new full frame camera coming out not far after an APS-C release though.

IIRC the planned life of K-1 was 4 years, with an intermediate update. That would put a replacement body in 2020. asahiman’s post suggests plans have perhaps changed, but I favor an APSc flagship coincident with CP+.
