Next year is the 100yr anniversary. They should celebrate with no new Pentax camera announcements, yeah, that seems likely. (sarcasm turned up to 11).

The charger could be registered for purely regulatory (safety) certification purposes. See all the logo/stamps on the bottom label. They would need to do this in order to ship and sell it to a country. Doesn't mean any new features are added over the older model.
That is entirely true - we had that discussion back when the charger was registered.

The questions now are where does this charger fit into what is going on? What does the new RF registration apply to? And are these two registrations related?

Since you didn't use "Quote Reply". I have absolutely no idea what you are responding to - most everyone expects something from Pentax, the discussion is what that 'something' will consist of.

Whatever Ricoh released would have been back page news.
We have a winner .

Plus next year is the 100 yr anniversary.

Its a stand alone statement. Am I required to reply to someone?

It has no meaning in a vacuum. Virtually nobody is expecting nothing next year - if anything, some of us are hoping for too much.
In any case, the discussion here of what is coming, is predicated on there being a 'what' that is coming.

No, they are not. They are reported as two separate items by Nokishita Camera:

Yes! Otherwise how will anyone know whether they are to react!

Given that these rumor threads are always based on huge speculation and the length of a thread is based in part of how long people will feed off of each other's objections to each other's carefully reasoned fantasies, it is essential for some amount of contention to be at the core of the discussion.

Steve

(Wonder how long a rumor thread will run if all replies run similar to "Cool idea! You are soooo right!"...)

In this particular case, everybody agrees that something is coming, and the discussion is about what that something might be. I didn't understand the motivation behind his posting his comment and was hoping he would explain why he felt it was appropriate to act as "Capt Obvious".

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say he, like I, is somewhat whiling away the time here while patiently waiting, and since it's been awhile, a little reminder that Pentax is doomed and we're never going to get anything because that's just the way it is in Pentax land, and, well, it does feel that way sometimes.....

There was a registration of a digital camera (manufacturer's code R 02010) having Bluetooth and wi-fi radios. (Registered 15 March 2018 sometime prior to 5 October 2018)

It's time for wild speculations!
Wild speculations so far:
  • This is not the GRIII
  • This is a dSLR
  • This has something to do with the BJ-11 battery charger registered 31 May 2018 in S. Korea and which at that time was speculated to be proof positive of a GRII replacement to be announced at Photokina. See: Ricoh registered new BATTERY CHARGER - PentaxForums.com
  • This is for the K-1ii
  • This is for the K-2 (K-3 successor, except more better)
  • This for the Zenit K-1 (K-1Z? Two speculations for the price of one...Woo! Hoo!)
  • Numerological speculations leading to K-2ii, K-1iii, K-3iii, K-dog or something to do with dogs, K-???
  • This is not the K-02...numerological fail
  • New theta model (apparently the only product with real market potential/performance)
  • Camera has built in music player
  • This has something to do with BOTH Kevin Bacon AND Bruce Lee
  • There is a spy photo of camera with painful grip...
  • Camera will be code-name Beluga
  • Camera will be code-name Wild Speculations
  • Bluetooth means Ricoh/Pentax may catch up with Nikon in some manner
  • This is a K-70 successor that is also a new flaghip (hipster model)
  • The people across the seas (choose your sea) know more about this than we do...Arctic Ocean? KMZ? Belugas?
  • K16000? -- Jubileum successor to the K1000 (with 1/16000 s max shutter speed, of course)
  • This is uncorroborated BS (is that a camera name? UBS?)
  • Must be GRIII (yes, again)
  • K-1 100 Jahre Edition (but of course for Germany and Austria only, per Herr Wolfgang Baus)
  • Nothing to do with the original post, but there will be two FF cameras announced, a K-1ii replacement at 36+ Mpx and a new model at ~24Mpx based on ruminations and shaking of bones by Asahiman
  • Something about sake for those waiting
  • Asahiman did or did not say/mean a lot of things...(makes perfect sense to me)
  • Cannot be a new camera announcement until we have more lenses
  • K-02...again
  • APS-C flagship announcement at CP+
  • New action camera (sure, why not!)
  • (Shifting a little to the left)...BJ-11 will have USB-C fitting to allow direct camera power through the charger
  • Code name for BJ-11 is "red herring"
  • New product will be camera called 運命の (Japanese for "doomed")

@stevebrot K16000 as in a jubileum successor to the K1000 (with 1/16000 s max shutter speed, of course). And perhaps with a K* version of the DFA* 50/1.4.

I believe it is assumed that the K-70 uses the traditional aperture control block and that the KP shares its mechanism with the K-3, K-3II, and K-1. I don't know that there has been a published tear-down of either model to confirm.
It would seem wise for Ricoh to switch to that aperture control mechanism for *all* their cameras from now on... it shouldn't be a "flagship vs. consumer" thing, but more a "reliable vs. not" thing.

On 15 March 2018 R01010 was registered, not R02010, and it was the Pentax K-1 II.

This mechanism seems to go back to the days when Pentax created the KA-mount. I have two cameras included in that - the Super Program I purchased in 1983 and the K-30 I purchased in 2015. The Super Program is still working OK, so there is nothing inherently wrong with the design, but implementation of the "off the shelf" solenoid appears to have changed beginning with the ones purchased for the K-30, and 'turning back the clock' may be harder than it looks.
