For those who experience difficulties in following the hyperlinks provided:

As apparent in this caption, that was a month ago. Note the 'in two classes'.

That's the one from yesterday and I have already referenced it twice in this thread:

asahi man's post from yesterday (above) is in the continuity of the one he made on 11 September, also referenced and pasted in this thread. See below.

Asahiman actually wrote

QuoteOriginally posted by Asahiman :

Body and lens development, very interesting and in 2 classes.

But, SLR!!
It can mean that there are pro * and non-pro lines for lenses. Or it could mean that they do new limiteds and new DFA*s.

It can mean that in a year or two or three they will have two FF cameras in addition to one or two APSC cameras.

It can mean a lot of things.

Do not attribute your personal, potentially quite faulty, interpretation to somebody else who is highly regarded here. Especially in rumor threads false attributing is bad style.

I doubt that. Re-read asahi man's words: 'nearly all the development power is going into K fullframe SLR. Body and lens development (...) in 2 classes.'

All I have to see is "But, SLR!" and my optimism increases.

I'm with beholder - if asahiman would be so kind as to dispel such ambiguities...

We already know that Ricoh Imaging is developing lenses in 2 clases (D FA and D FA*). Two FF DSLRs... is not impossible, but it implies a level of ambition unlike what we've seen in the last years, and I'm talking scale rather than quality (we have quality with the D FA*).

He has very good insider information, including internal documents far ahead of the publication of the corresponding piece of information (e.g. the D FA★ 50mm f/1,4's optical construction or the picture of its ring-SDM motor).

He says most development is going into K FF. But 2 classes doesn't necessarily mean 2 FF cameras. It could mean 135 FF & 645 FF. Or it could mean 135 FF and APS-C. It wouldn't be all that hard to take developments for 135 FF and scale it down to APS-C...Isn't that what they basically did for the *ist D because no economically viable (for Pentax) FF sensors existed at the time?

And in 2 classes he is probably referring to lenses anyway. And who really needs to develop lenses for APS-C anyway? Nikon doesn't anymore...
