All the news on one plate and one photo :
By the way the 55mm prototype was not working, that's why we couldn't test it. But they said it will be a runner, like the compact 15mm !

The Pentax representative I spoke to...Unfortunately he also hinted, that we will miss longer focal lengthes for the foreseeable future too... No lenses longer than the DA 300 are on the horizon. So Sigma again, for me - just got my Bigma...

I suspect you misinterpreted his hint. There is absolutely a longer lens on the horizon; it's right there on the official lens roadmap, marked only as "super telephoto".
2 previous pages of replies, so this may have been mentioned already. But my take on it is, I think perhaps the reality being hinted at is something similar to what happened w/the 60-250. Though the 60-250 was first mentioned in 2006 we're only going to be actually getting it at the tail end of 2009, practically 2010. Though yes some sort of super-telephoto has made it onto the sheet, we know even less about it than the 60-250 back in 2006. I think that German rep was hinting @ "don't expect to see it until 2013-2014"...

p.s. how fantastic would that be if it's a 400mm f/2.8! But since Pentax can't/won't make a 300mm f/2.8, betting on that is dumb money. I guess I'll be staying w/my Sigma and two TCs.

The "Ford" car as that still works in the dark. When talking long lenses, only the "Ferrari"of long lenses work well in low light [i.e. having AF and a reasonably fast shutter speed].
