Oh... So eBay? That's where I get most of my Pentax stuff.
Isn't eBay global, not local?

Good news if that's true.

Not sure why anyone would be "sad" about the 55-300 PLM. It's a fantastic lens for travel/hiking. Light, compact, good quality, quiet, and blazingly fast focus. It's a significant step up from the prior version. Not all lenses need to be large, heavy 2.8 or 4.0.

It isn't a DFA lens. That would make me sad if I owned a "FF' camera .... but I do not. It and the 1.4X TC would wonderfully on my KP, and I feel sad for those who have not / can not use it.

They also wrote that the lens should be available quickly thereafter.

I'll add that the announcement will be on Thursday the 23rd in Japan but actually on Wednesday the 22nd at 22:00 UTC.

Well, I had both K-1 and various APS-C bodies. The fact that Pentax made the PLM didn't somehow make me sad. They have limited resources and even if they didn't, making a great lens that appeals to many of their users shouldn't make people "sad".
If they had spent money on some sort of limited use, ultra-expensive lens like a 50mm 1.0 aperture, that would be cause to whine, but the PLM is not that sort of thing.

I recently switched to a 645z from the K-1. Would I now rather have a new 25mm for the 645z instead of the 70-200 F4? For sure. But if the 70-200 F4 is a good lens, I'm certainly not going to be "sad" that Pentax didn't somehow prioritize only my needs.
