Always confusing things. That's "equivalence"!

Let's get away from all that. I could only find a couple of good photos of the 60-250 on K1, only lots of vignette tests. So if someone knows a secret album of glorious photos let me know.

Good spotting!

That's a strange statement, for sure. I'm at a loss to understand what Ricoh might have meant. They might have meant something like "This lens provides the same field of view on an APS-C format camera as a 107-307mm lens would on a K-1," but that would be getting too complicated -- and unnecessary in the context of a D FA* lens.

Weird.

What it means is that they wrote the text before releasing the K-1

Finding things is not easy. As far as I know 60-250 has aero bright 1.

Where does this info come from? Not according to PF database anyhow... Both the DA* 55 and 60-250 have SMC/SP coatings?

I always thought Aerobright was a newer technology than DA* 55 and 60-250 anyway.

The DA* 55mm f/1.4 is using Aero Bright Coating together with SMC (ABC is never used on its own, as it's too fragile for the exposed elements).

No mention of Aerobright for the 60-250 on the Ricoh website. How would you even know it is used in certain lenses? Could be a con 😀, at least with the HD coat it is easy to see it works and the colours are so natural/saturated etc.

Apparently the DA☆ 55mm f/1.4 is using Aero Bright Coating and the DA☆ 60-250mm f/4 is not.

The lenses and accessories catalog has tags at each lens for the coating technologies. It also has a section explaining them, including transmission curves. Not sure if I linked the latest version, but the lenses discussed above are included.

It is interesting that according to this, the DFA 24-70 and 15-30 use Pentax's own HD coating and not Tamron's coatings.

It is a big plus over Tamron coatings, HD coating is brilliant, apparently according to the transmission curves Aerobright is even better. Pentax were always at the forefront making the best lens coatings.

I thought that was common knowledge from the day these two lenses were announced.

I guess I have just read to many Pentax bashers saying that these lenses are just straight Tamron rebadges. Of course, they are probably the same people who claim that about every new Pentax lens that is announced...
