I wonder why Ricoh thinks it necessary to build this into a lens. There are already inexpensive, easy to use options that work with any lens.

But who wants inexpensive when you have already invested in an expensive tracking mount? No bragging rights for wrapping a bulky, very noticeable, hand warmer over your lens.

It's not built in. The lens' design just makes it easy to attach a heater.

Seems like the design is to conduct and distribute heat more effectively:

The bottom of the tip ring is where the "lens heater for star shooting" is attached. It seems that it is a material and the design in consideration of the heat conduction neatly so that not only the hollow but also the heat is transmitted to the lens.

Two other products that were discussed specifically, but cannot be mentioned. I assume these are not things on the roadmap, and it’s just my speculation but I think they are cameras

I think that those could be the new teleconverters, as we mentioned them before (also - Asahi Man had talked about them)

I've never understood why so many people were enamored with the K-1000. To me, it was a large 'clunky' camera more appropriate for Praktica .... my svelte 1983 Super Program is a much better example of what Pentax could do.

Don’t you know silver makes things focus faster and more accurately, gives more dynamic range and is lighter.

The current rounded all-black body style was introduced by Canon with their T90 .... just before Pentax started their long 'downhill' slide from prominence. To me, the 'silver' editions - especially with the new squared-off body style introduced with the K-1 - evokes memories of the cameras back when Pentax was at the top.

- K-3 Evolved camera is under heavy development (they have used this "evolved" phrasing before - it's clear they don't want it to be seen as a mere K-3 III)
