Thought the canadians would throw shade on pentax as soon as they worked for dpr. They used to like Pentax.

I thought their review was reasonable. They like the Pentax brand, they liked the K-1 a lot, just not the K-1 mark II since it was not differentiated enough from the former model and some of the changes were not one's they agreed with. Seems like a valid opinion to me. Note - I don't have a K-1.

Go figure.

True. There is also the fact that after their (TCSTV) original K-3 review they started really pounding on Pentax. The Pentax K-30 got one of the best TCSTV ratings and even promoted it over Sony.

I have been to the TCS store a few times over the years and the store is known for good service but their distane for Pentax was progressively evident over the years. The Pentax displays moved around and into more obscure locations you wouldn't normally look for a camera. Also something not so good happened between TCS and Sigma when it comes to the cameras to the point that Sigma would no longer send TCS any test units.

No problem with Henry's, Vistek, or Lens & Shutter stores. They went out of their way to supply me Pentax and Sigma gear and usually at a better price and service.

Something happened between Pentax and TCS just after the original K-3 review and the fact that Jordan was the only one that liked the K-1 and it's not a video centric camera (head scratch?).

One thing that did occur to me this that TCS probably made less money from selling more reliable and useful Pentax products and they are all about their "Public Image" and they need a villain to fight against and guess who became the scape goat?

Why in the world would anyone even consider it? it's clearly an incremental change. I suppose there are some Big Deal upgrades, like the A7iii, but if not, don't even consider them in the running. Not even many die hard Pentaxians considered switching out a K-1 for K-1ii; in some ways the only unique thing about it was the send-in board swap.

so if you didn't watch the video why are you so qualified to complain about their decision?

they made it very clear why they suggested it for the list, and also made it very clear that they were impressed with the k1.

this is camera of the year for 2018, ie any camera not released in 2018 is not to be considered. so why would you be so heartbroken that a good camera was selected for the worst list because it represents very little relative to the outgoing model. the new canon eos R is getting the same treatment as it's completely underwhelming as a successor to the outgoing camera (this does not make it bad). that's all the k1-ii criticism represents.

DPR have a loooooong history of poor reviews of Pentax gear.

They mainly disliked the baked-in noise reduction for RAW files, which is the exact reason I didn't pay for the upgrade.
